What you need to know:
- The FDA recently issued new evidence-based guidelines to determine donor blood eligibility that is more inclusive 和 assesses every donor regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
- The new Donor History Questionnaire (DHQ) is gender-neutral, 和 all donors are asked all of the same questions.
- The DHQ contains new screening criteria that ask about risks related to travel, 药物治疗, high-risk behaviors (defined by the FDA), 以及性行为.
- We acknowledge there is more work to be done, but we support the FDA 和 other professional organizations, such as the Association for the Advancement of 血 和 Biotherapies (AABB), in the progress that has been made.

血 donor eligibility
You must meet certain criteria to donate blood or platelets. To guarantee a safe blood supply, the Food 和 Drug Administration (FDA) requires us to adhere to specific eligibility requirements. 你必须:
- Be at least 17 years old or have a UCLA 血 和 血小板中心 parental consent form
- Weigh at least 110 pounds
- 身体健康
- Have not donated blood in the past 56 days
